Quality Assurance Program
Excellence in Australian Meat Processing & Export
As an Australian family-owned Export Establishment, we take great pride in the quality, wholesomeness, integrity, authenticity, legality, and traceability of our product. Our product monitoring and processing procedures are fully documented and are verified as part of our Approved Arrangement and HACCP Plan with the Australian Department of Agriculture. Product hygiene testing is carried out daily under the National Carcase Microbiology Monitoring Program by trained Quality Assurance Officers and samples are tested by a NATA accredited laboratory.
Wagstaff Cranbourne is a dedicated halal site. We hold halal certification with AHAA (Australian Halal Authority and Advisors) and AHDAA (Australian Halal Development & Accreditation) which allows us access to all major halal markets. Our halal processes are monitored and audited regularly to ensure compliance with all Islamic regulatory requirements.
As a holder of BRCGS certification, we uphold the standards of Good Hygienic and Manufacturing Practices. All product is traceable, and product integrity is maintained during all stages of raw material receival (livestock and primary packaging), processing, packing, storage, and despatch.
Constant communication with the Australian Department of Agriculture, 3rd party regulators, Industry, and importers/customers allows us to stay up to date with changing regulatory and importing country/customer requirements, providing reassurance that our product will be compliant and legal for the intended markets.
ANIMAL WELFARE
Animal welfare is a core aspect of our operations. All livestock sourced by Wagstaff comply with Fit to Load and Fit to Process Guidelines, and all care is taken to ensure that the animals are treated humanely and in alignment with the AMIC National Code of Animal Welfare Standards.
All staff involved in the handling of animals carefully trained and understand their importance within our animal welfare procedures. We hold current certification with AAWCS (Australian Livestock Processing Industry Animal Welfare Certification System) and NA (North American) Animal Welfare.
In addition, we carry out enhanced monitoring and auditing activities by trained company Animal Welfare Officers. All animal welfare procedures are independently verified during audits conducted by the Australian Department of Agriculture and AUSQUAL officials. We continually assess our animal welfare program, and engage in a system of continual, verifiable improvement that ensures that Wagstaff remains at the forefront of animal welfare best practice and compliance.
